The outpouring was amazing as people who have used alcohol and/or drugs
for years were eager to spend this Thanksgiving sober. People who never had
a job celebrated employment. People who lost relationships with family were
reconnected. People who could not imagine tomorrow made plans for next year.
People who could not remember yesterday relished in the joy of memories being
made.
These men and women are sons and daughters, husbands and wives, fathers
and mothers, aunts and uncles, neighbors and coworkers – they are us, but
with a disease that together and with hope, we can overcome.
